Tucked away in Meyers, California, Tahoe Paradise Park offers towering pine trees, mountain views, a quiet lakeside setting, and plenty of room to slow down. It's especially beautiful for couples planning an intimate wedding or elopement who want to spend their day outside without feeling like they have to hike miles to find a beautiful view.

And this gallery is a perfect example of what I love about the park! This couple created an intimate evening that blended a little bit of adventure with a lot of intention. They wandered along the lake, enjoyed a private dinner beneath the pines, toasted with their favorite cocktails, and ended the evening by jumping straight into the lake together. Where Is Tahoe Paradise Park?

Tahoe Paradise Park is located in Meyers, California, about 15 minutes south of Heavenly Village and the heart of South Lake Tahoe. Rather than sitting directly along the shores of Lake Tahoe, the park surrounds Lake Baron and the Upper Truckee River. It’s a quieter mountain setting with towering pines, open meadows, and water views.

That location is one of the reasons I think Tahoe Paradise Park is such a great option for an elopement. You still get the feeling of being surrounded by the Sierra Nevada, but you aren't dealing with the same crowds you'll find at some of Tahoe's more famous overlooks.

Accessibility at Tahoe Paradise Park

This is one of the things I especially love about the park. Unlike some of Lake Tahoe's more adventurous ceremony locations, you don't need to hike miles to reach beautiful scenery. Most of the main areas are easily accessible from parking, making Tahoe Paradise Park a great option for couples bringing children, grandparents, or guests with limited mobility. You can still have an adventurous day, but you just get to decide how adventurous you want it to be.

One of my favorite things about photographing a Tahoe Paradise Park elopement is how much variety you can get without constantly getting back into the car. Within a relatively small area, we can photograph the two of you along the shoreline, beneath the pines, beside the river, and in open grassy areas. As the sun starts to set, the light filters through the trees and gives the entire park a warm, golden glow.

For this particular wedding, we started along the shoreline as golden hour settled over the Sierra. The evening was quiet and warm, and we wandered along the water, taking in the views and capturing portraits before heading toward their dinner setup.

A Luxury Dinner Beneath the Pines

One of my favorite parts of this Tahoe Paradise Park elopement was the dinner setup. Brie of Aspen & Pine Weddings created a beautiful tablescape beneath the towering trees, giving the couple a space to sit down and actually enjoy their evening together.

This is something I love about elopements. Your reception doesn't have to look like a traditional reception. You can have dinner at a beautifully designed table beneath the pines. You can order your favorite meal, bring in a private chef, or toast with your favorite cocktails. You can take your time and actually talk to each other without feeling like you need to move on to the next part of the schedule. After dinner, we wandered back into the trees for more portraits. They danced, twirled, and enjoyed some time together before we headed back toward the lake.

Golden Hour to Blue Hour at Tahoe Paradise Park

As the sun disappeared behind the mountains, the entire feeling of the evening changed. The warm golden light slowly faded into soft blues, giving us a completely different look without ever leaving Tahoe Paradise Park. This is one of my favorite ways to photograph an elopement. Instead of choosing one perfect time for portraits, we stayed long enough to experience the transition from golden hour into blue hour.

The light kept changing, and so did the photographs! The warm glow through the trees gave us romantic, colorful portraits. Then the cooler tones of twilight made the lake and surrounding mountains feel calm and almost cinematic.

Ending the Night in Lake Tahoe

Then, they did something completely spontaneous to end the night! They kicked off their shoes and stepped into the lake. The water was cold, but they didn't care. They ran in, embraced, and laughed together as the last light disappeared from the sky.

These ended up being some of my favorite photographs from the entire evening. They weren't planned or part of an elaborate timeline. They just ecided they wanted to end their wedding day in the water together. That's exactly what a Tahoe Paradise Park elopement can be!

What Time of Year Is Best for a Tahoe Paradise Park Elopement?

Tahoe Paradise Park is beautiful throughout the year, but each season gives you a completely different experience.

Spring

Spring brings snowmelt, cooler temperatures, and the beginning of the park's transition into warmer weather. Depending on the year, you may still see plenty of snow around the Tahoe Basin.

Summer

Summer offers long days, warm temperatures, lush greenery, and plenty of time to enjoy the outdoors. It's also one of the busiest seasons, so I recommend planning your ceremony and portraits around the quieter parts of the day.

Fall

Fall is one of my favorite times to visit Lake Tahoe. Golden aspens begin to appear throughout the Tahoe Basin, temperatures cool down, and you can often enjoy a little more breathing room than during peak summer.
