But early in the morning, before the crowds arrive, it feels like an entirely different place. The water is calm, the light is soft, and you can actually slow down and soak in the moment together.

This sweet, stress-free elopement started just as the first light began to spill over the Sierra Nevada. These two exchanged private vows overlooking one of the most beautiful views in California. They couldn't stop smiling at each other all morning, and as their Lake Tahoe elopement photographer, I could feel just how excited they were to finally be married.

One of my favorite details from the day was the bouquet. The bright, colorful florals added so much life against the deep blue water, towering pine trees, and granite cliffs surrounding Emerald Bay. Combined with the way the dress caught the breeze, everything felt effortlessly romantic.

After their ceremony, we spent time exploring the overlook together instead of rushing off to the next part of the day. That's one of my favorite things about elopements. You actually have time to pause, take in the scenery, and enjoy where you are.

One of the things I love most about a Lake Tahoe elopement is how much variety you can experience in a single day. After spending the morning at Emerald Bay, we made the short drive to Sugar Pine Point State Park for the second half of their adventure. The change in scenery felt completely different. Instead of dramatic overlooks, we found quiet beaches, towering pine trees, and peaceful stretches of shoreline.

They spread out a picnic beside the lake and spent time simply being together. They talked, laughed, admired the view, and celebrated the beginning of their marriage. Moments like these are why I love photographing elopements. Your wedding day doesn't have to revolve around checking events off a timeline. It can be slow, intentional, and full of experiences you'll actually remember!
