How To Plan A Maternity Session In Sequoia National Park
Starting the Session on the Congress Trail
There’s something magical about photographing maternity and family sessions in Sequoia National Park. The giant trees, the soft light, and the quiet trails make every session feel like a little adventure. For this maternity session, we met in the parking lot and headed out on the Congress Trail.
This trail is one of my favorite places for Sequoia photos! The clusters of sequoias create a perfect backdrop and the hike is not the hardest difficult! My little buddy did such a great job!! It can get a little steep on the way back up, but the views and photo opportunities make it worth every step!!
Maternity Photos in the Giant Sequoias
We started with photos of mama surrounded by the big trees. Her yellow dress looked sooo stunning against the warm tones of the sequoia trees!! For maternity photography in Sequoia National Park, I love when outfits add a pop of color because it creates such a nice contrast with the earthy tones of the forest!
After capturing some solo maternity portraits, we brought dad in for some sweet moments between the two of them. These photos weren’t just about the bump, they were about celebrating this new chapter and the connection between mom and dad before welcoming their little one!

Once their little buddy joined in, the session shifted into family mode. He brought so much energy and fun!
