Surprise Proposal At Beetle Rock | Dreamy Engagement Session Sequoia National Park
I recently had the honor of capturing Tejas and Mathangi’s surprise proposal in Sequoia National Park, and let me tell you, it was one of those days that reminds me exactly why I do what I do!! It was magical from star to finish! If we haven’t met yet, heyyyy, I’m Ariel , a Sequoia National Park engagement and proposal photographer who specializes in documenting real moments near the place I’ve called home my whole life.
Tejas originally planned to propose at sunrise, which is such a magical time for Sequoia National Park proposal photos, but Mother Nature had other plans. A surprise snowstorm swept in and completely changed the vibe of the day. Luckily, being a local Sequoia photographer means I know how to shift fast!! I always have a backup plan or two ready to go. We decided to push their session to midday instead, and honestly, it ended up being even more perfect than the original plan.
We met at Beetle Rock, one of my favorite spots for Sequoia National Park engagement sessions. The wide-open views, soft light, and this feeling that makes every photo feel magical! Snow was still falling softly as Tejas got down on one knee, and Mathangi’s reaction was everything. She was surprised, emotional, and glowing with excitement. As a surprise proposal photographer in Sequoia, these moments always get me. That raw happiness and emotion, it never gets old.
After the proposal, we explored Big Trees Trail, which is a popular a trail but look at the photos…you’d understand why!! (Tip: This is a great spot for your Sequoia National Park couples photos!)) Surrounded by giant sequoias and snowy meadows, we explored and laughed, and just soaked up the moment. Their session felt more like a winter adventure with friends than a traditional photoshoot, which is exactly the vibe I’m always going for!! I want your photos to feel real, adventurous, and totally you.
Tejas and Mathangi were an absolute dream to photograph!! You could feel how in sync they were, their energy was everythinggg, and their love felt so natural and effortless. I kept finding myself saying how much I loved documenting their connection. These are my kind of couples. To me, a real photograph is never about how you look, it’s about how it feels, it's about how you love. When two people treat each other with so much love that you can feel it just by being around them and even more than that, you can feel it in the photographs.
If you’re planning a Sequoia National Park proposal, or you’re dreaming of an engagement session in the Sequoia (might as well include Kings Canyon too!!) I’d love to help bring your dream photos to life! From Sequoia National Park proposal ideas to finding the best light, showing you my favorite trails, or just hyping you up in front of the camera, I’ve got you!!
Let’s plan your perfect day in Sequoia, no matter the season!
P.S. Tejas and Mathangi, see ya on our next advwetnure and this time maybe without the snow!!
