How To Plan an Intimate Sequoia Wedding or Vow Renewal

When Ben and Victoria reached out to me about renewing their vows in Sequoia National Park, I knew this day was going to be so meaningful! That’s the thing about moments like this, standing beneath these giant sequoias isn’t just about taking a pretty picture. It’s about the meaning behind it all. For Ben and Victoria, it was a reminder of how far they’ve come together: a decade of choosing each other, even when it wasn’t easy. They got married under the Tree of Life in New Orleans, and now here they were, renewing their vows under trees that have stood the test of time, just like their love. It was a celebration of how they feel for their family, and the commitment of staying firmly rooted, just like the trees around them, so they can grow a strong foundation for their children, and their children’s children, for years to come!! When Victoria explained this, it stuck with me. It really hit home for me.

A Sunrise I do Among the Sequoias

We met up at the General Sherman Tree trailhead just as the first light was peeking through the trees. Even though the General Sherman Tree is the biggest tree in the world, it can get crowded fast, even at sunrise, so I always help my couples with a more tucked-away spots that still have that jaw-dropping magic but with a little more privacy!!

Sequoia’s Best-Kept Secrets that only a local would know

For Ben and Victoria, we found the perfect quiet spot where they could read their vows surrounded by the giants, with their two kids standing by their side. O + B handled our little hike like champs, and I couldn’t help but think how beautiful it was to to be experiencing the magic of the Sequoias at such a young age. These are the memories that stick, the ones you’ll talk about for years to come.

It’s Not Just About Photos, It’s About the Full Sequoia Experience

This is something I tell all my couples: a Sequoia elopement or vow renewal isn’t just about taking pretty pictures. It’s about slowing down, being present, and taking it all in. It’s wandering through the Giant Forest, standing next to a sequoia that’s thousands of years old, maybe even spotting a deer quietly moving through the trees like we did. It’s having the time and space to just be together, without rushing, without pressure, just you, your family, and the trees.

Because when you get home, your suitcase is unpacked, and life goes back to normal, these photos become the tangible memories you have left…proof of the love you’ve built and the story you’re still writing together. There is so much power in that.
