Sequoia National Park Elopement at Crescent Meadow

Sequoia National Park Elopement at Crescent Meadow

If you’ve ever dreamed of a wedding day that feels relaxed, intimate, and surrounded by California’s most breathtaking scenery, this Sequoia National Park elopement will give you all the inspiration you need. Jose and Mara decided to skip the stress of a big wedding and celebrate their love in the heart of Sequoia. With their immediate family members as their witnesses, J + M promised forever understood ancient, giant sequoia trees!

A Slow Morning at Their Cozy Airbnb

The day began at their Airbnb near Three Rivers, where Jose and Mara got ready side by side, taking in the calm before heading into the park. The morning was slow and peaceful. I noticed how at ease Jose and Mara both were as they were getting ready. That’s what I love most about Sequoia elopements: there’s time to breathe, connect, and really feel the day as it unfolds.

If you’re planning your own Sequoia National Park wedding, starting your day at a local Airbnb gives you a comfortable base close to the park while adding those personal details that help tell your story.

An Intimate Ceremony at Crescent Meadow

Before their ceremony, they shared private vows at their Airbnb for privacy…just between the two of them, a moment filled with tears, laughter, and the kind of raw emotion that reminds you what elopements are all about. Their ceremony took place at Crescent Meadow, one of Sequoia’s most peaceful elopement locations. They don’t call it "Gem of the Sierra" for nothing! Surrounded by towering sequoias, they exchanged vows in front of their closest family members.

As a local Sequoia National Park elopement photographer, I always recommend Crescent Meadow for couples wanting a forest, secluded setting that still feels accessible. You can apply for your wedding permit through the National Park Service website, and aim for spring or fall for best conditions.

Family Portraits, Picnic, and Cake Cutting

After the ceremony, Jose and Mara spent time with their families for family portraits surrounded by the trees. It was simple and sweet, everyone laughing, celebrating, and soaking in the moment. Then, they set up a sweet picnic in Crescent Meadow, complete with a cake cutting. Fun fact: just because you elope doesn’t mean you can’t do fun wedding activities like a cake cutting!

Those quiet, post-ceremony moments are some of my favorites to photograph. It’s where the day slows down again and there is space to soak in the moment. If there is one thing I wish people understood is, the pace and feel of your day is completely up to you! I help every couple of mine with a timeline based on their vision for the day.

Golden Hour at Beetle Rock | Elopement Activites

As the evening light began to fade, we made our way to Beetle Rock for their sunset portraits, champagne pop, and first dance. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect with lighting!! The way the still light hit the granite as they danced, one of those moments that makes me grateful to call Sequoia home.

Beetle Rock is one of my favorite Sequoia elopement photo locations because it offers wide-open mountain views and glowing sunset light, all just a short walk from the parking area.

Why Sequoia National Park Is Perfect for Your California Elopement

Sequoia National Park is ideal for couples who value experiences over things. Whether you’re saying your vows under the giant sequoias or toasting on a granite overlook, your day becomes less about the timeline and more about the two of you. What if I told you I could
